The Study

[The room you find yourself in is opulent with tall ceilings. Bookshelves line the walls filled with countless books. Large arched windows fill one wall though the panes are dark with night beyond. The room itself is lit with candelabra and a warmly burning fireplace. Rich rugs and tapestries decorate the floors and walls between the bookshelves, and there is a large desk strewn with papers and books.

From a corner of the room, a man clears his throat, calling attention to himself. He is tall, holding himself with a regal bearing long dark hair frames his face.]


"Well then," he says, stepping forward. "You have finally made it. As much as it galls me to require it, you will be able to assist me in matters here."

[You have entered a darkened hallway. The light of your candles barely illuminate the far wall much less the high vaulted ceilings above. At least you are at the end of the hallway and there is only one direction to go from here.

As you walk, you can hear echoes of laughter and conversations, ghosts of memories that fill these halls.]

[Beyond the door, the room is dominated by a large four poster bed in the middle of the floor. An armoire stands along one wall. Familiar dark windows take up the adjacent wall, and a third wall is draped in heavy dark fabric.

Beside the bed is an unlit candle.]

[It is just as darkened out here as it was inside the palace.

You step out into a courtyard with a well manicured lawn and fruit trees lining pathways circling the area. As you move forward, you'll notice there are four concentric rings through the park-like area, and three branching pathways that meet in the center.

There is a sign post with three wooden arms pointing down the different paths. The path from the palace is labeled "Demon Lord", a second path is labeled "Thieves' Guild", and the final one is labeled "Aather".]

Aather: the Doors

[The walk down this path is rather delightful. It's warm. You can hear birds of some kind singing. There are flowers, some arching up over the pathway. All in all it's gorgeous.

It's still dark though, so you can only see as far as your candlelight carries.

The path ends in a clearing with four unlit lanterns spaced out evenly.]
